Eastern State Penitentiary of the South: Old Jail, Charleston

Charleston's Old City Jail housed thousands of prisoners, pirates, and condemned men. What we recorded inside suggests not all of them have served their time.
Built in 1802, the Old City Jail in Charleston held prisoners for over 130 years including the notorious Lavinia Fisher — often cited as America's first female serial killer. The building's crumbling interior now serves as an event space, but the energy within its walls is anything but historical artifact.
Our team navigated four floors of deteriorating cell blocks with full equipment loadout. The second floor produced immediate results: our REM pod triggered twice near what records indicate was a solitary confinement area, and a thermal camera captured a sustained cold spot near the exterior wall that measured 9 degrees below the ambient temperature.
At 1:44 AM on the fourth floor, a motion sensor in an empty room triggered three times in rapid succession. Upon review of the full-spectrum footage, a dark mass is visible moving across the doorframe in the seconds before each trigger. The footage has been submitted for external review.
Audio sweep also produced results: a whispered male voice saying what sounds like a name — possibly 'John' — in response to a question about identity. Classification: Tier 3 active haunting.
