Sensor Pod MK2 — Six Month Field Review
HL-IMG // 2026-02-14

After six months and 47 field deployments, we're publishing our internal performance review of the Sensor Pod MK2. The results are mostly good. Mostly.

Overview

The MK2 shipped in August 2025. Since then, it has been deployed on 47 separate investigations across 9 sites. Here is what we learned.

Performance Highlights

  • EM Detection: Consistently accurate within ±2 µT across all test conditions
  • Thermal Sensitivity: Performed at spec in all environments except sub-zero conditions (below -10°C, response time degrades by ~18%)
  • Battery Life: Real-world average is 12.4 hours — slightly below the 14-hour spec under continuous high-frequency logging

Issues Identified

One unit developed a Bluetooth dropout pattern in high-EMF environments above 1,200 µT. This has been reproduced in the lab and a firmware patch is in development.

MK3 Development

We are already prototyping the MK3. Key improvements: wired data fallback, extended cold-weather battery performance, and a secondary infrasound sensor channel.
